Load shedding shouldn't cost your guests the WiFi time they already paid for.

Here's a scenario every South African venue owner knows: a guest buys a data bundle or unlocks a few hours of WiFi, the power cuts mid-session, and by the time the router's back up, their time has quietly ticked away for nothing.

We just shipped Fair Pause on ISN Free WiFi to fix exactly that.

If a specific router goes offline and a guest still has paid access time remaining, their session freezes the moment the outage starts and resumes exactly where it left off once the router's back online. A guest with 4 hours left when it drops still has 4 hours left when it returns, no matter how long the outage runs.

A few things we made sure of:

It's scoped to the exact router affected. Every other router on your network keeps running normally, so one outage never touches guests somewhere else on your property.

It's protected against double dipping. If a guest moves to another router of yours during the outage and keeps browsing there, they don't also get credited when the original router comes back.

It only protects real revenue. Ad unlocks, purchased vouchers, data plans, POS sales and API grants are covered. Free resident vouchers aren't part of it.

It's on by default, with a toggle if you'd rather access simply expire on schedule.

Fairness like this isn't just a technical detail. It's what builds trust between a guest and the venue running their WiFi, the difference between "this WiFi ripped me off" and "this place actually looks out for you." Small feature, real trust.
