Why does ISN Free WiFi have three different status pages? Here's the honest answer.

4 September 2026

If you're evaluating a WiFi platform for your business, you'll eventually ask "what happens when something breaks, and how would I even know?" We built three separate status pages because one page can't honestly answer that question for everyone who needs it.

This is our independent infrastructure status page, deliberately hosted as its own separate service. If our main application ever went down completely, this page would still be up and still tell you the truth. A status page that lives on the same server it's reporting on isn't really a status page, it's a hope. This one runs on its own.

This is the platform's own status page, tied to the ISN dashboard and portal. If you're a tenant managing your captive portal and want to know what's happening with the platform you log into every day, this is where you look.

yourcaptive.isnfreewifi.co.za/status (for example, isn-free-wifi.isnfreewifi.co.za/status)
Every business we host gets their own. This one is scoped to your venue specifically, not the entire platform, so your guests and your team only see what's actually relevant to your WiFi, not noise from a hundred other captives on the network.

Three pages, three honest answers to three different questions: is the underlying infrastructure okay, is the platform I manage okay, and is my own venue's WiFi okay. That's not complexity for its own sake. That's what it actually takes to be transparent with the people relying on you.
