The cheapest fix for a flaky WiFi router is the one most people forget: restart it on a schedule.
Public WiFi routers run around the clock. Over weeks they slow down, drop clients or stop responding, and the usual fix is someone driving out to unplug it. If you run WiFi across a bus fleet, a mall or several venues, that adds up fast.
We built Scheduled reboot into ISN Free WiFi so a healthy router restarts itself quietly, before it becomes a problem.
How it works
- Open a router in the dashboard and pick an hour of the day
- Tick specific days for a weekly restart, for example Sunday at 3am, or leave the days empty for a daily one
- Apply it to a single router, or to a whole group of routers at once
- It uses the same restart as the manual "Restart router" button, so it behaves the way you already expect
Why it matters
- It's maintenance, not a reaction. Offline alerts tell you a router has already failed. This restarts it on purpose, before it does
- Pick the quiet hour, so guests aren't cut off at 6pm on a Friday
- No site visit and no calls to a venue manager asking them to "switch it off and on"
- One thing to know: the restart lands somewhere inside the hour you choose, not at the exact minute. That is fine for routine maintenance.
If you manage WiFi at more than a handful of locations, this is a good feature to switch on once and forget.
